Miramar is passionate about developing Junior Golf.
In the past year we have partnered with the Kiwi Golf Development Foundation to offer Junior coaching programmes at the club. The programme is delivered by Miramar Golf Club coaches who are all keen, fun golfers and enjoy working with Juniors.
The Junior coaching programme is aimed at all young golfers. Whether they have little or no knowledge, to a basic level of golf skills and are ready to start playing some holes, to those who have an official handicap and are ready to start playing competitions.
Each coach takes a small group (max 10 kids) to ensure players of the same age and skill level learn together. This has proven to give the Juniors the most out of their learning experience. These programmes run during the school term and we also offer holiday programmes.
Thank you very much for all of your help with Reeve’s first term of golf! Reeve really enjoyed this introduction to golf and can’t wait to play more! Reeve learned a lot from the group demonstrations, as well as the one-on-one support from all of the coaches giving him a variety of support! Thanks again - see you in the New Year for more!

Junior Pathway
We are in the process of extending our Junior programme to offer a pathway for juniors to reach their highest potential in junior golf and beyond. Attracting and promoting the development of juniors is one of the key aims of the club and Miramar sees this as a responsibility and duty in both growing the sport and safeguarding it for future generations.
The pathway will begin with these coaching programmes at the club and will move through the stages of playing and then onto competitions. Our junior pathway will encourage the following:
- Participation in Junior Coaching Programmes
- Obtaining a Handicap
- Playing in Junior & Club Competitions
- Playing in Junior Interclub
- Playing in Open Tournaments
Junior Programme
With the myriad of changes happening at the Links, we will not be offering a Junior Programme for Term 4 2024. However there will be several opportunities for Juniors to participate on the course until the end of the year. Below is the outline of the Junior Programme we ran in Term 2 and we will run a similar format in Term 1, 2025.
This is a really special programme with some outstanding guest coaches making appearances throughout the programme.
We will assess the attendees on the first day and create two groups depending on ability. The groups will concentrate on:
Talented Group:
- Pitching - 50m to the pin
- Hitting Greens - Iron shots
Starting Out Group:
- Hit your wedge - clean contact
- Hitting your irons - full swing
In addition, both groups will also focus on:
- HIT FAIRWAYS...How to hit the long ball
- THE SHORT STICK...Long putts, 2 putt lagging
- GETTING UP & DOWN...Chipping
- SWING FUNDAMENTALS
This programme is open to members and non members alike. Please feel free to pass this information onto anyone you think may be interested.
